Add these journalists to your beehiiv recommendations
A list of relevant publications for journalists and writers using beehiiv's recommendation engine
I hate Substack with my whole heart and I think overall they are a visionless, reactive team that doesn’t actually know how to make writers money, but they did do one thing right: their recommendation engine.
It’s the single most powerful feature they shipped and probably the only one. More than 50% of my list came via recommendations from other writers. Not from Substack, just from the recommendations themselves.
You don’t need Substack to do this anymore. This feature is built into all the main newsletter writing platforms:
The trick is…who’s on the network?
Ghost and Sparkloop are platform agnostic so you can use them with any other publisher. beehiiv, Substack and Kit require that you’re both using their tool.
I use beehiiv and I’m noticing a lot more journalists on the network now so here’s a list of beehiiv publications you might want to recommend (or ask them to recommend you!)
Pro tip: Add “/recommendations” to the end of any publication on beehiiv to see who they’re recommending.
